NSW gun report
The week began with a brazen robbery of a cash-in-transit vehicle in busy peak hour inner-Sydney, with four targeted shootings over the weekend rounding out a busy few days for police.
At 8.15am on Monday, March 4, two guards parked a cash-in-transit van in Bay Street, off Broadway in Glebe, and left the vehicle.
They were approached from behind by two men with their faces covered, both armed with firearms. A third male stood near the van while a fourth was believed to be driving a getaway car. One of the guards was struck to the back of the head, possibly with the butt of a firearm, while another offender fired a shot into the air. No money was stolen and no one was injured as a result of the shot fired. Two men were arrested within the week, while police continued hunting for a fourth.
In the worst incident over the weekend, a 43-year-old woman was shot in the legs in Auburn, in Sydney's west on Saturday afternoon. She was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition and underwent surgery. Twenty minutes later, a number of shots were fired into another house in Auburn, with police examining links to the two shootings. At 5.15am on Sunday, two shots were fired at a home at Lansvale in Sydney's south-west in what police believe is a targeted attack related to an earlier dispute. Three men and a woman in the home at the time were uninjured.

Meanwhile, police were called to a Padstow Heights home a few hours later. At about 2.10am on Wednesday, police received reports a number of shots had been fired into a house. A 56-year-old man and two children were inside, although nobody was injured. Police are investigating.
In other incidents, a man was shot with a 1830s revolver near Nimbin last week. Police said at about 5pm on March 6, a man was showing a friend the two antique handguns in the dining room of his home when one discharged. A bullet hit his 46-year-old friend in his right upper arm. He was taken to Nimbin Hospital before being transferred to Lismore Base Hospital for treatment.
