HOW should we view The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age going tabloid, or compact?
Just another evolutionary step? A desperate, ill-considered Fairfax Media (FM) attempt to slow a 12 per cent annual circulation decline? An overt step towards the day when FM journalism will be available only online? An acknowledgment that broadsheet newspapers can be difficult to manoeuvre on public transport? Or just another visible writhing of an industry in its death throes?
