Missing Benjamin: fears grow for safety of flight attendant - Sydney Morning Herald

Police hold serious concerns for the safety of a Virgin flight attendant who vanished from his home in Sydney's east on Australia Day.


Friends and family have not heard from Benjamin Roper since he left his home on Prince Street in Randwick about 7pm on Saturday.


"He has not been seen since and police have concerns for his welfare," a police spokesman said.


A social media campaign has been launched to find the popular 32-year-old, who has a number of distinctive tattoos on his arm and back.


Family and friends, including several celebrities, have saturated Twitter and Facebook in an attempt to find him.


Comedian Julia Morris tweeted an appeal to find Mr Roper, who she described as a "family friend".


She included a link to the Eastern Beaches Local Area Command Facebook page detailing information about his disappearance.


"A family friend of mine is missing in Sydney. Please look at this page & contact Maroubra Police if u know anything," Morris tweeted.


"His name is Benjamin Roper and was last seen in Randwick on Australia Day night (26th) contact Maroubra Police jx."


Professional ironwoman Candice Falzon also tweeted a photograph of Ben with the message: "Please retweet in the hope of finding Ben. He has been missing since Saturday. Thanks."


Mr Roper's colleagues at Virgin also have taken to social media in a bid to find him.


Police said Mr Roper had a number of distinctive tattoos, including a flame design on his upper right arm and the numerals 2035 on his back.


He was last seen wearing a light coloured T-shirt, dark brown shorts and thongs.


Police have appealed for anyone with information about Mr Roper's location to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
