Melbourne Heart striker Dylan Macallister will have revenge on his mind when his A-League club meet Perth Glory at AAMI Park on Saturday night.
The Glory downed the Heart 2-0 in Perth in round three but more humiliating was a 5-0 pre-season drubbing in Melbourne in late September, less than a fortnight before the competition began.
With Perth's form having since dipped, the Glory managing just two points from their past four matches, Macallister said Saturday night's clash was an ideal chance to hit back.
"They're going through a bit of a lull at the moment so it might be a good time to get them," he told AAP on Tuesday.
"They beat us 5-0 in the pre-season, which will be playing on our minds.
"We went over to Perth and lost 2-0 so it's really about getting some revenge as well and using that as motivation."
The Heart are also driven to break their own run of poor results, having managed just two draws and a loss from their past three games to sit second bottom.
But with only two points separating them from sixth-placed Perth, a win could vault the home side into the top six.
Macallister predicted the Heart would show much more attacking intent than in Sunday's scoreless draw with last-placed Sydney FC at Allianz Stadium.
"It was two teams down the bottom of the table really battling to get a result, but no one really wanted to take the risk so we kind of cancelled each other out," he said.
"I'd like to think this week, playing at home, we'll be more on the offensive and take a few more risks."
He said while he and his teammates felt they were playing better than results suggested, that was little consolation.
"At the moment, we'd much rather play unattractive football and get the three points," Macallister said.
The striker was speaking at a Heart-run clinic for disadvantaged children, near housing commission flats in Fitzroy in inner-suburban Melbourne, for Save the Children Australia, for whom Macallister is an ambassador.
