WATCH our live stream from 12pm as Sonny Bill Williams makes the official announcement that he will be playing for the Roosters in 2013.

Williams, who was part of New Zealand's Rugby World Cup-winning squad last year, has not played league since he controversially walked out on Canterbury midway through the 2007 campaign.

The 27-year-old, who made his name at the Bulldogs as a brilliant back-rower, has been used mostly as a centre in rugby.

He is coming off a short stint playing the 15-man game in Japan. However, the lucrative spell, believed to be earning him around $1m, ended abruptly at the end of last month when he sustained a shoulder injury that required surgery.

This has allowed the Roosters to expedite the finishing touches to the deal, in which Williams - who has also embarked on a boxing career - will join the club for one season, before returning to New Zealand to help the All Blacks prepare for the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

It's believed his contract with the NRL will officially be lodged before the end of the week.
